How to find my bank account number?
A bank account number can be located through any of the following standard methods:
- Paper checks: Printed on the bottom line. In the US format, the sequence is: routing number (9 digits) → account number → check number. The account number is the middle group.
- Bank statements: Listed on monthly paper or electronic (PDF) statements, typically near the top or in the account summary section.
- Online banking: Log in via the bank’s website or mobile app, select the account, and open Account Details or Account Information. Some banks require an additional tap (“Show”) or identity verification to display it.
- Mobile banking app: Many apps display the full account number under account settings or details; some reveal it only via IBAN/account details screen.
- Account opening documents: Welcome letters, account agreements, or passbooks issued when the account was created.
- Contact the bank directly: Call the customer service number on the back of the debit card or the bank’s official website, or visit a branch with valid government-issued photo ID. Identity verification is required.
Security notes:
- Access account details only through the bank’s official website, app, or phone number — never through links received via email or SMS.
- Never share the account number over unsecured channels (public Wi-Fi, unencrypted messages, social media).
- Legitimate institutions will verify identity before disclosing account details; be suspicious of any party that does not.
